A brilliant first day for the CWB team in Uganda. The rain stopped just in time for the morning session where we met around fifteen school teachers from Bukedea, who would like to introduce cricket into their schools. We also met the local cricket coaches based in Uganda who will accompany us through our time here. It was a very inspiring morning, with so much energy and enthusiasm on display and even more encouragingly it was such fun. All the usual activities, with the teachers organising their own game of “rapid fire” to finish the morning.
In afternoon, we went to two primary schools; Bukedea and Tamula where 180 attended the first session and a similar number in the second. Hats off to Mark for modifying the plan so seamlessly and it was wonderful to see the joy on the faces of the children, as we led them through a number of our activities. Their engagement level was a credit to them as well as their teachers ( who had attended the morning session and were able to assist with communication) and well done to the CWB coaches , who so expertly kept the attention of the children and provided the environment for a fun session.
