End of the uganda innings

Thoughts on our time in Uganda from coach David.

I was last in Africa over twenty years ago and spending time in Uganda has been littered with examples of progress from major infrastructure projects to widespread use of mobile technology, contrasting examples of continued unpredictability such as general time management and knowing that what you order in a restaurant may not be what you receive! Most importantly, it remains a magical place, which provides a stark reminder that it is the simple things in life that matter.

In Uganda I saw true joy from children playing with a tennis ball as well as real surprise when a group of teenagers enjoyed a game of ‘Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes’….imagine that in the UK. The landscape is lush, with fields that span the shades of green running as far as the eye can see. There are hidden treasures around every corner, local stalls selling everything you could imagine from hot food to industrials.

Most of all, it is the smiles you receive from the smallest children to the village elders that stay with you and I know I will never forget. Goodbye and thank you Uganda, hello Rwanda.
