So Day 2 out here in Kenya, and it’s been a very fun packed tiring day. Our day started off with a bit of a risky start when our bus came pretty close to colliding with somebody trying to overtake, but after all hiding behind our hands we survived!1 Once we arrived at Murang'a Teachers College we split into two groups; half of us stayed at the school to continue the Coach Education and the other half (the dream team; Kelly, Reilly, Sammie and Cameron of course) went off to Kabati Central Academy.

When we arrived at the school we were greeted by a lot of happy and excited Kenyan children who were pretty shocked to see white guests in their school, we were waved at by everybody and felt like celebrities. We had a few words with the head teacher before we began with the coaching sessions; here we found that their school day starts at 6am-5pm, slightly different from the UK! We had lots of fun at the school, got them singing Westlife, chanting their ABC’s, playing cricket and even chasing us round the field chanting follow the leader. We had 40 Primary school kids to start, which grew to 100, and 30 secondary school kids, which grew to 75. Awesome. The time soon flew by and before we knew it, it was 1pm and time for us to leave. The children were very sad for us to leave and despite begging us to stay we set off back to the teachers college to reunite with the rest of the team.

When we arrived back we had a catch up and found that the teachers had been doing exceptionally on their coaching practice yet again. A monster 75 minute Q & A about the game (all the rules and a few potential new ones) proved the interest these guys have in the game.  After lunch we headed back out into the burning heat to assess the teachers so they can complete their coaching certificate. All of the student teachers did very well when coaching their fellow students and showed great understanding of everything they had learnt. Once all assessments were completed we had a mini competition so they could all have some fun and just enjoy some cricket.Once all the fun was over with it was time to congratulate our participants and hand out their certificates and T-shirts. All the new coaches were really excited and Joyce concluded nicely by saying "Now youve empowered us over the last two days we can empower the youths within our area".After a hard days coaching it was time to head home to get ready for a meal out with Joyce and colleagues from the sports ministry, not forgetting Nicholas and Daniel our Massai warrior guest!!

After a nice meal and catch up with our friends, Kenya decided it was going to throw a nice tropical storm at us to finish the night off. After having to get out and push the bus out of a hole in the car park we set off back to the hotel in a metal bus with fork lightening striking all around us, slightly scary to say the least!! (Sammie cried, and there was a fair bit of squealing coming from the back). However we all made it back safely, now to watch the storm with a few Tuskers before heading to bed ready for another fun filled day in Kenya tomorrow…..

Thats all for now
