The day started very early drive to Masunga, with some weary eyes, having spent the night with some weird and wonderful creepy crawlies.
Onto the combi at 6.30 for our 2 hour drive to Masunga, in temperatures close to 40 degrees C. After passing through many one horse dorps (village consisting of a man and his donkey), we arrived at impressive Masunga sports complex, where we were greeted by 32 teachers and Mr Kohli, the sports centre manager, starting day 1 of a 4 day coach education programme at the centre.
It was onto the astroturf football pitch; the first time we’d see anything resembling grass instead of the usual dustbowls for some coaching led by Dave Gellers and his team of merry men. After lunch provided by the centre, consisting of rice and beans again! It was off to the Masunga primary school and back to the dustbowl under the blazing sun.
We were greeted by 300 children from the school. We did drills and played continuous cricket with boys and girls of all ages, assisted by the newly trained coaches. After photographs, it was back onto the bus for the 2 hour trip back to a barbecue prepared by Charlie as a leaving party for Dave Gellers, who returns to the UK tomorrow.
