Why CWB?<\/strong> – As an adult I have done three main things \u2013 work with children; play cricket; travel- so you see that CWB might be a fit for me. So now I\u2019ve done a dozen projects and loved every minute. I have found a regular boost of smiles from enthusiastic children keeps me going at work for the rest of the year \u2013 and the smiles in Uganda are bright and broad. Looking forward to travelling with old friends, visiting old friends and making old friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why Am I nearly famous? <\/strong>\u2013 I was asked for my autograph as Stacey Peralta \u2013 who was a world champion skateboarder. I was visualising my signature on the young fans\u2019 skateboards and making their day when I the follow up came to me  \u201cthat\u2019s great can you do a few tricks\u2026..\u201d!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Why CWB?<\/strong> – I was persuaded to sign up by friends who had fantastic experiences on projects. It\u2019s an incredible way to really get to know a country, and the enthusiasm of the kids is an absolute joy. You come back humbled, but feeling that you\u2019ve actually helped to make a difference. This will be project number 9 for me, so I think that says it all!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Why am I nearly famous? <\/strong> – I was once hailed from the other side of the car park at Chelmsford cricket by England legend Enid Bakewell (who I know well from Women\u2019s Cricket Week). Not a bad way to impress some serious cricket friends!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Why CWB?<\/strong> I was first introduced to CWB by Hampshire Cricket Board a couple of years ago when they showed me some highlights of a visit to Rwanda.  I was immediately struck by two main thoughts; the joy of the faces of the children participating and sense of achievement for the coaches providing the opportunity.  I am also very excited about the prospect of visiting Uganda<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Why am I nearly famous?<\/strong> Hmmm, not so sure about this one!  I have never owned a supermarket (unlike my famous namesake) and unlike my great uncle\u2019s grandfather I have never played football in a cup final for Aberdeen!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Why CWB? I read about CWB after looking at jobs on the ECB website, in the middle of a career change. I loved the idea of combining cricket, travel and making a difference so it seemed the perfect fit. This will be my first project but having attended the training weekend and heard so many amazing stories, I suspect it won\u2019t be my last!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Why am I nearly famous?<\/strong> Fortunately, I\u2019m as far from famous as you could possibly be. Although an umpire did once tell me I was only player who\u2019d ever smiled at him walking off after he\u2019d given them out lbw! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Music for a desert island?<\/strong> I like a bit of everything, but if I could only listen to one artist on my desert island it would have to be Coldplay<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Why CWB?: <\/strong>I met Lee and Sara back in 2017 and knew that CWB would play some role in my future. The mission, vision, values of CWB align with my professional commitment to youth empowerment, social justice, and reducing global health disparities through a strengths\/asset-based approach AND my personal love of the greatest game in the world, cricket.  It took 8 years, but I went on my first CWB trip to Nepal in 2025 and am now about to embark on Rwanda and Uganda trips (2026)! I\u2019m officially hooked. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Why am I nearly famous? <\/strong> I am decidedly un-famous\u2026.although others may say I\u2019m infamous in certain Nerd circles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Why CWB?:<\/strong> I have lived, worked and breathed Cricket for as long as I can remember. Cricket in Yorkshire is ingrained in every step and I am always keen to share my passion with others! When I saw the CWB advert I knew instantly it would be a fantastic opportunity to spread my love of the game and provide opportunities to so many! I am super excited to visit Uganda and create cricketing avidity for the children and coaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Why CWB?<\/strong> Essex Cricket in the Community sent me CWB\u2019s advert back in 2024 and I was keen to put something back into cricket which has given me so much enjoyment. I had such a hugely rewarding and enjoyable time in Uganda that I just have to go back. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Why I am nearly famous<\/strong> \u2013 I was on Univeristy Challenge for Essex University in 1971.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
