My name\u2019s Anna and I\u2019m here as part of my medical degree elective. I\u2019ve decided to volunteer after hearing about the charity and getting FOMO from all my mum\u2019s trips with CWB! I\u2019ve played since age 5 and now umpire internationally so I\u2019m really excited to share my passion for healthcare and cricket with the children and ambassadors.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

I am Harry and I am volunteering for CWB because I am passionate about the benefit cricket can help bring to communities in Uganda. It would be very rewarding to help shape positive change through cricket. I really enjoy playing for my cricket club back home, and I am excited to work alongside the team in Uganda to give children opportunities to have fun with this great game.

Hi, I\u2019m Hersh!\u00a0<\/strong>I\u2019m a cricket fan, an India fan, and a general sports lover\u2014Champions Trophy, Super Bowl, UFC, you name it. Growing up in my house, cricket was always on, so I fell in love with the game from an early age and played a lot at school, club, and district level. I was mainly a batsman, and my bowling\u2026 well, let\u2019s just say even the most defensive batters saw it as a scoring opportunity.
Day to day, I work as a junior doctor and am working towards a career in sports medicine. Using cricket to make a positive social impact\u2014whether it\u2019s tackling HIV, promoting gender equality, or driving meaningful change\u2014is something I\u2019m\u00a0really passionate\u00a0about.

I\u2019ve\u00a0been a cricket fan\u00a0as long as I can remember,\u00a0and haveenjoyed\u00a0playing\u00a0women\u2019s league cricket for many years, as well as\u00a0being\u00a0involved in lots of admin roles\u00a0for\u00a0club and league. I qualified as a coach\u00a0but\u00a0it was\u00a0quite a while before I had the time, and confidence,\u00a0to put it to use. When I had enough of being a pharmacist, one of the first things I did was a CWB project, as it pushed me way outside my comfort zone. Having coped with hundreds of kids in Africa, I figured it couldn\u2019t be that hard in Surrey, which gave me the courage to make a career change! I now coach part time for Surrey Cricket, and my local club. That first incredible CWB experience\u00a0made a huge impression on me, seeing\u00a0first\u00a0handwhat a difference we can make to young lives using the power of sport. I was\u00a0hooked, and after 3 trips,\u00a0joined\u00a0the group of volunteers which runs the charity.\u00a0I now take care of a lot of the volunteer recruitment admin. This will be project number 8 for me, and I\u2019m\u00a0so\u00a0excited to revisit Uganda, where my CWB journey began!
In my spare time I love watching sport, especially tennis and cricket, spending many happy hours in a deckchair at\u00a0sunnyHove watching Sussex in the Championship. My other passion is photography,\u00a0so I\u2019m always excited to visit new places.

If I could have any\u00a0meal\u00a0it would be\u00a0fillet steak, chips & peas followed by sticky toffee pudding with cream.
I would use a Time Machine to go back in time if I could, to be a fly on the wall to see some of the biggest moments of history unfold, and get a feel for the personalities involved.

Hi I\u2019m Tarn and this is my 2nd CWB trip to Uganda. At home I can usually be found coaching or playing at Wedgwood cricket club but I cannot wait to be back amongst all those happy smiling faces in the sunshine!

If I could have any meal it would probably be back. And cheese oatcakes followed by Cr\u00e8me Br\u00fbl\u00e9e.

If I had a Time Machine I would definitely go back in time rather than forwards because \u201cspoilers, spoilers\u201d (Dr Who fans should get that reference!)

I\u2019m Alex and 10 years ago in March made my international cricket debut in Australia. Why CWB? cricket has been my life and wanted to give back to the sport and always like getting involved in different activities so going to east Africa was a no Brainer 2023 I went to Kenya on my first CWB trip.

I\u2019m Mark and as an adult I have done three main things – work with children; play cricket; travel- so you see that CWB might be a fit for me. So now I\u2019ve done a dozen projects and loved every minute. I have found a regular boost of smiles from enthusiastic children keeps me going at work for the rest of the year – and the smiles in Uganda are bright and broad!
If you could chose any meal what would it be?
I\u2019m of the food is fuel view so will generally eat whatever (vegetarian) is put in front of me. So I\u2019d choose on basis of company and location- in which case it\u2019s with my gorgeous wife somewhere with an African sunset.
If you had a Time Machine would you travel to the past or the future and why?
I\u2019ve seen enough time travel films to know that you interfere with the time-space continuum at your peril- and as I\u2019m not the sitting and watching type I better stick to living in the present.
