After an action-packed, fun-filled week, the Cricket Without Boundaries (CWB) team finally had a well-earned day of rest. But a lie-in? No chance! With the beauty of Uganda calling, we set off early to Mount Elgon National Park.
Our journey began with a hike through the breathtaking landscape. Much like a cricket match, our trek had its fair share of highs and lows. A fast start saw us setting off enthusiastically, only for it all to go downhill—quite literally! The descent was steep and required descending down old wooden logs that felt as if they might break at any second. Along the way, we saw caves and learned about the region’s rich mineral deposits.
The highlight of the hike was of course, standing in the presence of the magnificent 100-meter waterfall. There was an option to abseil down next to the falls , but we wisely decided to keep our feet firmly on the ground—after all, we don’t want any injuries before coaching tomorrow!
After snapping plenty of Instagram-worthy pictures, we began the climb back up. You do start to question if it was the same route because, wow, that got the heart racing! At least it was a solid cardio session to prepare us for cricket season.
With the adventure complete, we rounded off the day with a delicious team meal enjoyed against the backdrop of Sipi’s stunning scenery. Refreshed, refueled, and raring to go, the team is now recharged and ready for another exciting day of coaching tomorrow!
