With the remnants of my third Spanish omelette in three days now cleared from the table it seemed a good time for a quick update on our trip so far. The team have now arrived in Arua in the north of Uganda.
After finally getting my suitcase after a 24 hour delay we departed Kampala just after breakfast to make the 450 km trip north. The variable road conditions made the journey pretty bumpy and dusty at times but the scenery and visions of African life helped the 9 hours pass without incident.
Much of the journey had us travelling through pretty flat barren but verdant green scenery the highlights coming in the last 3 or so hours after we crossed the Nile with a quick stop to spot elephants, kobs and even the rear end of one hippo wading out of the water.
We are now all loaded and ready to set off for the real work to begin with half the team heading out for some coach education with hopefully around 30 local teachers, the rest will be straight into a local school to start coaching and more importantly delivering the HIV messaging.
