As reported in the Melton Times
A PRIMARY school has donated money towards widening children’s experiences in Uganda by teaching them to play cricket.
Redmile Primary School’s council handed over a cheque for £72.55, which was raised at the school’s Christmas raffle, to Darren Bicknell of the Belvoir Castle Cricket Trust.
The money will go towards the Cricket Without Boundaries Aids awareness charity, which is dedicated to helping, educating and developing local communities around the world through the spread and growth of cricket.
Darren said: “The money was a wonderful gesture and will help us buy cricket equipment to be given to schools in Uganda.”
When he came to collect the cheque, Darren bought a selection of bats and balls with him for the children to sign and has promised to send photos of the Uganda children paying with them.
A further amount was raised at the Christmas raffle for the St Peter’s Church roof restoration fund.
