As well as the generous donations made the group of case (we raised around £8,000 between us – that’s 30,000,000 Ugandan Shillings), we also had batches of kit donated.
One batch of kit was given to Darren by Nottingham Forest. Our driver Joseph is proudly wearing his Nottingham Forest Tie – he looks very smart!
When we were at Kilembe, our cricket sessions could not start until the local secondary school footballers cleared of our pitch. For four days we watched their skills – mostly barefoot!
We decided to present the bag of Nottingham Forest kit to the players. They were delighted and took it back to the school where the Headmaster of Royal Ranges Senior Secondary School noted down each item and sent us back a letter of acknowledgement and thanks. He also invited us up to the school.
So Darren ended up being called to the Headmaster’s Office for the second time on the trip!
You can see the delighted youngsters with their new shirts
… and later on Darren took part in a penalty shoot out (he’s not just a talented cricketer!)
Thank you to Nottingham Forest and all the kind donors who have helped make so many young people happy on this project.
