Sunday saw the CWB squad take a well earned day off.
Lee and Karl stayed in Mbararra, whilst myself, Dan, Julie, Matt and Ed made the 90 minute trip to Lake Mburo. Manny headed back to Kampala to play a few t20s.
Having never been on Safari in Africa, this was a truly breathtaking experience. On a 2 hour drive we saw Zebra, Water Buck, Baboons, Eland, Wart Hog, Hippo and Water Buffalo in their most natural of environments.
We then headed to the lake and took a serene 2 hour boat ride around the lake, taking in numerous hippo families and Nile Crocodiles as well as an array of birds such as fish eagles. The squad were soaking in the experience so much that 4 of the 5 managed to nod off on the boat. At one point i think 90% of the boat actually their eyes closed! It was so relaxing!
We then made our way back towards the main gate where Syraj our driver was waiting. Before we got back to the gate we came across a family of Giraffes. We left our vehicle on foot with our armed guard in toe and managed to get within 20 metres of these magnificent animals whilst they tucked into the surrounding accacia.
Once we returned to the bus, Syraj expertly navigated the bumpy and bouncy roads to take us back to our hotel.
We tucked into a good meal and the majority took an early night with a packed Monday diary ahead.
