\n\tIt's almost exactly a week until we heaf out to Uganda,so we thought we'd better introduce ourselves…<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tI live in Hampshire and have played sport most of my life. I am a level 2 qualified cricket coach and coach the local colts in the area for the last 4 years. This is my first trip with this charity but I have completed other charity events around the world. I work in the financial services industry and run two companies one in Hampshire the other in Warwick. I have two children one is another cricket coach and two grandchildren (3 + 1 years old).<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t\tThis is my second project with CWB having visited Kenya in Autumn 2012.<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tI had such an incredible experience last time that I had no hesitation in volunteering again and I can't wait to get out there.<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t \n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tAs well as spreading the CWB message I am also hoping Uganda will help me repair my damaged cricketing reputation. Both the first and second teams at my club Lechlade CC went into the last day of the season needing a win to secure the league title and both came away empty handed. As player\/head coach I have copped plenty of stick – something that wasn't helped by my dismal showing for CWB v England Women at Arundel!<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t \n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tAs well as playing, coaching and tutoring cricket I am also a freelance journalist and a member of the CWB media and communications team.<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI am 28 years old (will be turning 29 (eck!!) whilst out in Uganda, and work as the Ticket Office Manager and Membership Secretary at the Kia Oval, where I have worked for 7 years now. I have always had an interest in Cricket, so working where I do is ideal.<\/span><\/span>\n\t\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI was born in Brighton but have lived in London for 9 years, this will be my first trip with CWB and for a charity to Africa.<\/span><\/span>\n\t\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMy experience of coaching is extremely limited, the closest experience I have of it is that my husband is a cricket coach… I’ve asked him for tips but I’m not sure how helpful they will be!<\/span><\/span>\n\t\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI have been given the welfare role, this will involve me ensuring that everyone has taken their malaria tablets on a daily basis, are applying sun cream, have plentiful supply of water, I will also be in charge of the first aid kit. During this trip I hope to make a difference, and want to do something worthwhile. I am going with an open mind and lots of enthusiasm.<\/span><\/span>\n\t\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI am joining a team to Africa with CWB for a second time. In 2012, I went with a team to Kenya where we coached 1000s of children in cricket whilst delivering the HIV\/AIDS message.<\/span><\/span>\n\t\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI am currently a local councillor on Solihull MBC having served as a Member of Parliament for Plymouth Devonport from 1992 – 2005 in which time I was a government whip and transport minister. Before that I taught mathematics and was a Vice Principal of a large community college in Plymouth. In all roles I have taken an active interest in the welfare of children and successfully put the Activity Centres (Young Persons’ Safety) Act 95 on the statute book – a law which  regulated safety in activity centres.<\/span><\/span>\n\t\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI am married with grown up children.<\/span><\/span>\n\t\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\tI am 23 years old and a first time volunteer from Scarborough, north Yorkshire. I graduated from university in 2011 with a degree in Psychology. Since then I have worked largely in a local paper printing factory, and plan to continue to do so until I have saved enough money to study for a CELTA qualification. I wanted to get involved with CWB as I have 2 major goals I want to achieve, to see the world to make a difference. I am not a qualified coach but have run sessions previously with young children on batting. I can't wait to get out to Uganda now and hopefully make a difference!<\/span><\/span>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAs a massive science geek, particularly into viruses, with a penchant for heathcare communications and being partial to a spot of cricket, the work CWB does caught my eye, and I cannot wait to get involved.<\/span><\/span>\n\t\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI’m a first time volunteer for CWB, but am excited about comparing and contrasting the experience of coaching in Barnes on a Sunday morning to the trip we’re about to undertake. <\/span><\/span>\n\t\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tArmed with my CWB kit, factor 50 suncream and almost 1 million tennis balls I’m keen to get out there, get people enjoying cricket and learning the CWB messages!<\/span><\/span>\n\t\t<\/p>\n
