{"id":63,"date":"2013-10-05T20:11:05","date_gmt":"2013-10-05T20:11:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cwbblogs.com\/uganda13\/?p=63"},"modified":"2013-10-15T07:56:02","modified_gmt":"2013-10-15T07:56:02","slug":"cows-cranes-and-chaos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cwbblogs.com\/uganda13\/2013\/10\/05\/cows-cranes-and-chaos\/","title":{"rendered":"Cows, cranes and chaos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\tBy Clare Ross\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&quot;I&#39;m positive&quot;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tSomething I was told, completely unprompted, within&nbsp;the first 5 minutes of&nbsp;today&#39;s cricket.&nbsp;This and the rest of the day&#39;s ABCs has reinforced how important not only the cricket, but also the HIV\/AIDS messages are as part of CWB&#39;s work.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tLuke had got everyone: CWB&#39;ers and the teachers, doing a little icebreaker &#8211; what you know about cricket and what you knew about HIV\/AIDs. And my first partner didn&#39;t know much about cricket, but clearly knew about HIV, as he told me straight off the bat that he was positive. And that&nbsp;set the tone for the rest of the day in a way &#8211; making sure the HIV\/AIDs was front and centre of what we doing. To the point where the last&nbsp;coaching action of the day was encouraging over 100 school kids to shout &quot;use a condom&quot;!\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<a href=\"http:\/\/cwbblogs.com\/uganda13\/files\/2013\/10\/Dan-lad-pad.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" alt=\"Dan lad pad\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-69\" src=\"http:\/\/cwbblogs.com\/uganda13\/files\/2013\/10\/Dan-lad-pad-300x224.jpg\" style=\"float: right;width: 300px;height: 224px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cwbblogs.com\/uganda13\/files\/2013\/10\/Dan-lad-pad-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cwbblogs.com\/uganda13\/files\/2013\/10\/Dan-lad-pad-1024x764.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/cwbblogs.com\/uganda13\/files\/2013\/10\/Dan-lad-pad.jpg 1296w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tToday has been as predictably unpredictable as we were warned;<span style=\"line-height: 1.6em\">&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.6em\">Luke awoke to an &#39;en suite&#39; swimming pool, while Daniel ended the day with a &#39;lad pad&#39;.&nbsp;<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size: 13px\">On the cricket<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">&nbsp;pitch we started the day with a&nbsp;teacher<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">&nbsp;training&#8230;With no teachers.&nbsp;Well not at the start time anyway (perhaps fair enough on a Saturday), however they trickled in and we found some lads on the street who were keen to get involved too. From 0-40 in record time and we found space for everyone to get playing in between the cows and the bogland. And the national bird in the backdrop.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe afternoon session started in a similar vein, no kids to coach and then a good hundred! Having to think on our feet, the whole team got&nbsp;involved, making&nbsp;sure all the kids who rocked up were included. That was until we realised most tennis ball were missing.
