A special day relived via George Perceval…
With Lee and Rich off coaching the Rwandan Under 19’s this morning for the rest of us, today was a day to never forget. It was our chance to go into the Rwandan Orphans Project and actually spend some time with the kids coaching them cricket and delivering the HIV and Aids awareness amongst them. Upon arrival, we handed over the football kits and clothes donated by Adam along with a few CWB shirts for directors Sean and Jenny and the social worker Alex. After starting the session with some fun relays, we had about 45 kids joining in and having fun.
Seeing the smiles on their faces is something that can only be described as heart warming. With the help of Sean, Jenny and Alex we managed to arrange the kids into games bring out the competitive side of them but also the laughs and happiness spreading around to all of us coaches. Time does fly when you are having fun and before we knew it our 2 and half hours was up. With a sad goodbye but excited about our return on Thursday, we headed off to The Oval to meet up with Lee and Rich to observe some coach education.
Arriving at The Oval Adam, Jono, Chris, Gary and I went straight in and joined in on some of the coach education with a very enthusiastic group of players from a local team hoping to become the standard of level 1 coaches. An amazing day and looking forward to the outcome for the next visit to see the impact these new coaches have.
Just off out to the local bar to catch the end of the England rugby and more importantly for Adam, to see the Man U vs Chelsea game. A well deserved cold Mutzig and pizza. Great day and cant believe we have gone past half way already.
