Day 4 “Any Game, Any Time.”

DSC05804

Another superb day that has left us all shattered but the joy and adrenaline of what we are doing just keeps us going all day.

This morning we returned to one of the schools from Monday just to give the same children a further taste of cricket. Once again they were fantastic and such a joy to work with. I must admit for kids that have probably only seen cricket for the 3 hours we’ve coached them there are some gun arms out there and one kid scorched a drive that echoed around the field. Marissa broke out a rendition of Dreadlock Holiday for those waiting to bat, which brought a smile to all especially us coaches.

Every one of us hear is growing in confidence by the second. For me though it has meant that i’m not afraid to march up to the teachers and take their make shifts canes out of their hands. No chance on my watch am I allowing a kid to be hit.

To end the day we went to an all girls school which were amazing. To start they were a very tough crowd, you could hear a pin drop. Once the warm ups had started and their competitive streak came out, for me personally, the noise they made was the lift I needed at the end of a long day. Against Health and safety, Liam and I gave the ladies a good incentive to hit the ball on the ground by sitting down legs wide, 10 meters away, leaving our manhood a target for the batting station. Glad no washing or cooking has taken place and tummies are all good. Polos must be humming by now.
