Day T-12: Training weekend

twSo there we have it, the training weekend is over and all the teams finally meet face to face. Now the real countdown to Rwanda Autumn '13 begins.

I'm Greg and I will be looking after the blog for the trip but there will be pieces from all the team over the trip. In the lead up to the trip I will introduce you to the team.

So, the training weekend, what happened? Well, we came, we saw, sickeningly Botswana conquered. Although there was some suspicious scoring systems the likes that haven't been seen since the last time Britain entered Eurovision. On the more serious side of things it's was great to meet the team and to hear from the seasoned travellers about what to expect when we get out there. Hearing some of the stories of what these guys have seen were both heartwarming and heart wrenching, it's certainly going to be an emotional roller coaster, especially the trip to the genocide museum. Also looking forward to a possible round of golf out there if we can, one more continent off my list to lose a golf ball or several I'm sure.

Anyway, first blog so I'm not going to take our master of ceremonies, Carl's philosophy and use a 100 words instead of 1 otherwise I'll overload the system before we even leave. Stayed tuned for more updates as the countdown to Rwanda really begins.

P.s. Best of luck to all the other teams and look out for Botswana's blog as I'm sure they'll continue to show humility and decorum as they did after their suspicious victories this weekend.

Hi Greg, great start with the blog and it was lovely to meet up with you all, not long now until we will be out in the field in Rwanda playing the odd English game of cricket but also more importantly helping to make a difference in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

I only wish I had more time at the weekend to help out in the competitions as if there is one thing I have learnt from Rich Davies it’s that it is OK to have a fairly flexible approach to keeping score.
