{"id":18,"date":"2024-01-30T17:19:50","date_gmt":"2024-01-30T17:19:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cwbblogs.com\/nepal24\/?p=18"},"modified":"2024-01-30T17:19:51","modified_gmt":"2024-01-30T17:19:51","slug":"changemakers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cwbblogs.com\/nepal24\/2024\/01\/30\/changemakers\/","title":{"rendered":"CHANGEMAKERS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is the Cricket Changemakers?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Cricket Changemakers is an approach to designing, delivering, and evaluating \u201cCricket+\u201d programmes based on Youth Participatory Action Research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Youth =<\/strong>&nbsp;Working with adolescents and youth as collaborators throughout the approach<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Participatory =<\/strong>&nbsp;Active involvement and decision making from within the community<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Action =<\/strong>&nbsp;Focused on making a (positive) change through action (activities, advocacy, etc.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Research =<\/strong>&nbsp;Based on evidence of what is needed, evaluated to see if it makes a difference&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It applies a step-by-step approach. Each step can vary in length and detail, however a \u201cplay-based\u201d approach is used throughout.&nbsp;<em>This is what makes Cricket Changemakers unique.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Cricket Changemaker pilot programme will be taking place in Rwanda throughout 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cricket Changemakers in Nepal \u2013 a visual Case Study<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Cricket Changemakers in Nepal make sense of the information gathered from their peers while playing CWB games such as Cross-Fire and Team Targets. They asked:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>What helps girls to play cricket?<\/li><li>&nbsp;What stops girls playing cricket?<\/li><li>What happens when girls play cricket?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-3\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow\">\n<p>The information is summarised, and the important points identified. Three goals are identified to create change. A plan of action is devised for making these goals a reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The results of the work tell the story of Ishq, who faces discrimination from her parents, teachers, and male peers when she tries to play cricket and in her day-to-day life. Her story is a powerful way to open discussions with decision makers to change policies and practices.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cwbblogs.com\/rwanda2023\/files\/2023\/09\/Changemakers-Collage.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-31\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cIf girls play, then when do they learn to cook food?\u201d [Male peer]<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cGuardians also think if our girls play sports, they do not get married\u201d [Male peer]<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cricket Changemakers learn to be ICC Foundation coaches, in preparation to work towards Goal 1: Build girls\u2019 confidence through playing cricket.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They will work with younger girls in their school to deliver after school sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Goal 2 and 3, boys and parents will be engaged through community games and playing together with girls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-6\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cwbblogs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Cricket%20Changemakers%20Evidence%20Note%20v3.1.pdf\">For more information click here<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cwbblogs.com\/rwanda2023\/files\/2023\/09\/Screenshot-2023-09-13-at-11.59.19-724x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is the Cricket Changemakers?
