Team Nepal (alongside teams heading to Kenya and Uganda) recently gathered for a training weekend at Finham Park School, Coventry. The intensive training equipped the team with a diverse set of skills and knowledge, combining practical and classroom-based activities to prepare them for the project ahead.
The focus of the training weekend was to fine-tune the volunteers’ abilities to impart cricket skills and knowledge in a way that is engaging and inclusive, with a particular emphasis on encouraging more girls to take up the sport. Cricket Without Boundaries, known for its commitment to using cricket as a tool for social change, has been tirelessly working towards breaking down barriers and promoting inclusivity through the sport.
With the training weekend concluded, the team is now buzzing with excitement and fully prepared for their upcoming two-week project in Nepal, scheduled to kick off at the end of February. The mission is clear – to spread the joy of cricket and empower more girls to embrace the sport, fostering a sense of confidence, teamwork, and camaraderie.
Nepal, known for its breathtaking landscapes and vibrant culture, will be the backdrop for CWB’s latest venture. The volunteers will work closely with local communities, schools, and cricket clubs to create an inclusive and supportive environment for girls to discover and develop their cricketing skills.
The project aligns with CWB’s broader vision of using cricket as a catalyst for positive change. By breaking down gender stereotypes and encouraging girls to participate in the traditionally male-dominated sport, the charity aims to create a lasting impact on the lives of the individuals they reach.
Follow the progress of the team here as we embark on this transformative project, bringing the joy of cricket to the heart of Nepal and championing the cause of empowering girls through sports.
