Meet the volunteer team who will be joining the coaches, volunteers and staff members of our partner organisations Nepal Cricket Foundation and Sabal Nepal to deliver this 2 week project! As everyone who has been involved in a CWB project knows the 2 weeks often feature some adventurous car journeys and speedy lunches between schools, so as well as our cricket specialisms and motivations here’s a little early insight into what the time around our coaching might look like – with our favourite roadtrip tunes and snacks!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sara Begg<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Hi! I’m Sara Begg and I am the Project Leader for this trip. I have been working in Nepal for the last 3 year where my PhD research is informing the focus of our Social Impact efforts in the country, co-creating programmes with the Cricket Changemakers (4 of whom are in this picture with me!). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m really looking forward to taking the team out this winter – we had some great recommendations and feedback from community members and participants in workshops we held in August and so the team are going to be super busy helping implement those actions and recommendations!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My ultimate roadtrip tune is (currently) Such Great Heights by the Postal Service<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Number 1 snack is samosas (when in Nepal) or Malt Loaf with loads of butter (when in the UK!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My Cricket Specialism is an immaculate front foot defence and developing the female coaching workforce!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saqib Minhas<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I’m Saqib. As well as my obsession with all things cricket, I also love bodybuilding, eating and music (currently in that order)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘The first one was so nice, I had to do it twice!’ <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since being a part of Project Nepal 1.0, I have found a new love for coaching and now (almost) prefer it over playing! I’m excited to be going back and connecting with everyone again. I hope we can reach out to even more kids and into more areas than we did last time!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ultimate Road Trip Tune(s): Blackstreet – No Diggity, Barrington Levy – Here I Come, DMX – Ruff Ryder’s Anthem. Cheating with three because I’ll most likely be the in-car DJ!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cricketing Specialism: Bowling (in my head, I’ll always be Waqar Younis), slogging and every administrative function you can think of!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nick Holroyd<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Nick Holroyd – I am the School and Community Programmes Manager for Oxfordshire Cricket and I also coach the U12 Girls County Squad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having visited and had such an amazing time in the CWB trio of African countries I wanted to experience how things worked in Nepal. Getting more girls playing cricket is already a big part of what I do and hopefully will be able to continue that work in Nepal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hi everyone! \ud83d\ude00 My name is Jonathan I\u2019m 63 and retired from a career in banking. I\u2019m a cricket umpire and did my first CWB stint in Uganda earlier this year! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I absolutely loved it and I\u2019m really looking forward to improving my coaching ability and ensuring everything is fun, safe and inclusive for the children. \ud83e\udd73 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My ultimate road trip tune is Titanium, my favourite snack is mo mo\u2019s (which is useful!) \ud83d\ude02 And I love umpiring and coaching cricket \ud83c\udfcf\u2764\ufe0f<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mohammad Osman, born in London, lives in Scotland \ud83c\udff4\udb40\udc67\udb40\udc62\udb40\udc73\udb40\udc63\udb40\udc74\udb40\udc7f, plays for East Kilbride Cricket Club and travelling to Nepal \ud83c\uddf3\ud83c\uddf5 for my first CWB project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m looking forward to connecting with people, sharing my knowledge and love for the game but also providing challenge and being a catalyst for positive change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ultimate tune: 90\u2019s R&B<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Snack: Vegan sweets, ones that are not too soft but slightly firm and give you that perfect chewiness- Not easy to always find.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cricket specialism: Batter, turning 20\u2019s into fifties and more. Also referred to as \u2018Coach Osman\u2019 – The man with a plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paul Bedford, Can\u2019t wait to make my first visit to Nepal with Cricket Without Boundaries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having started supporting Cricket in Nepal and the Nepalese Community with MCC Foundation I\u2019m really looking forward to seeing the progress made and helping boys recognise that cricket is a game for all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kajal Rao Vajjhal, returning to Nepal with CWB after coming on the pilot programme to Nepal in Autumn 2023. I am looking forward to seeing how girls\u2019 cricket has progressed since our last trip, how cricket has been implemented in schools, how facilities have been improved and behaviours and norms have changed. Hoping for the best!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cricketing Specialism: coaching cricket to girls and younger kids and changing mindsets and behaviours. Also, the occasional switch to a different language when coaching and adding in some Bollywood moves to reinforce techniques!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yolanda Harris, on my 5th adventure with CWB. Having come to Nepal with CWB a year ago I am looking forward to returning and seeing how much more cricket is being played, particularly by girls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
