Six days into our project and we finally arrived in Rajbiraj! The returning volunteers have been hyping up this amazing town to the first timers and rightly so. It’s a wonderful place with wonderful people, this hit home immediately when we arrived at the wonderfully named Aashiya Party Palace – you cannot miss it, lit up with lights that can be seen from hundreds of yards away.
We have been able to visit six schools while in Rajbiraj, splitting into teams of various numbers to make sure we reach as many kids as possible. The day would always end with the now famous community sessions at the PABI school ground.
It has been great to come back a year later and see the progress at the ground – new toilets with a fantastic mural, crowd funded by CWB supporters, the square being dug up pending the installation of new turf strips and the start of construction of a seating area for spectators.

The community sessions have been going strong for over a year now, with the local coaches and Changemakers facilitating them fantastically. On our second day of community sessions at PABI, the CWB crew decided to change things up and offer the kids – and very keen coaches – some new and innovative drills and coaching methods.

With the NPL in full swing, we set up a station to introduce the ramp shot to some of those in attendance. This proved a very popular drill and ended in a raucous game based competition. It was great to see the progression in such a short space of time and some unbelievable shots were played.
Over on the west side of the ground, we channeled our inner analysts and set up a fast bowling observation station. Phones were set to slow motion recording and we broke down the actions of the girls from the Rajbiraj Hub. We worked on the delivery stride, gather momentum towards the target and follow through.
