The answer is John and ryan

After a tiring 6 hour drive from Muranga to Nakuru Wednesday afternoon, the crew were keen to stretch their legs early Thursday morning and boy did we have them stretched! It was a full on, exciting and adventurous day.

Our time at Freehold school felt swift and constructive. Aided by our 10 coaches from Pirates Cricket Club, we were able to help coach and entertain 170 children from the ages of 7 to 13.

After a quick kit collection and hop on our bus, , we were at Baharini school which was the primary school of one of our Pirates CC coaches John Kaguthi. We were all familiar with John as soon as we arrived at the school he was able to quickly help and rescue a small child from the danger of part of the school tin roof being carried off by the wind. Having started at Baharini when he was 8 years old, CWB came to his school and was his first exposure to cricket. We spoke to two of his teachers who had taught him at different ages and both were very quick to say that he was a hard-working, disciplined young boy with a serious passion for cricket. To see him come full circle and now back at his primary school coaching, having had Kenya U19 cricket trials is just one example of the beautiful stories CWB can help provide.

After a stop for lunch, we headed to Flamingo school, the home to another one of our Pirates CC coaches during his youth, Ryan Omondi. Ryan was at Flamingo from the ages of 8 to 13 before heading off to high school, where he really developed his talent for cricket into another level. This was able to set him up to make his way into the Kenya U19 national team as well has complete his coaching course, fully funded by projectt partners MCCF. Like John, CWB coming to Ryan’s primary school was his first experience playing cricket and now he his in a position to make a living off of the sport. These are the sorts of lives CWB changes.
