Your first proper day of coaching. Ever. Not even in England, it\u2019s in a Kenyan primary school.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Kids from five exceptionally well mannered classes stand up to thank us for coming to their school. The representative from Class Four comes out with a line that\u2019ll stick with me for a very long time:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThanks Coach Luke, we had lots of fun & learnt a lot\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Coach?! I try my best but even at 24, my peak cricket days are long gone…<\/span><\/p>\n

Seriously, though, what a feeling. To hear first hand you\u2019ve improved someone\u2019s day through the best sport in the world is nigh on unbeatable.<\/span><\/p>\n

Perhaps even more surprising that it came on my first full day, too. All of this is extremely new; I\u2019ve helped at one coaching session before & even then found the whole thing a bit out of my comfort zone.<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s a huge testament to CWB & the team I\u2019m with, who\u2019s enthusiasm & expertise I\u2019ve been observing while spending a large majority of the first two days doing my \u2018day job\u2019 behind the camera.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The best thing about this trip so far is being put in the thick of. How easy is it to be conservative? When an extra 150 kids rock up during the middle of a session, you *have* to be imaginative & creative. Fair play to the team who\u2019ve shown that in abundance so far.<\/span><\/p>\n

Four schools in a day, another 800+ kids inspired & a few well earned team beers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hopefully this trip will keep on inspiring & educating the children. I\u2019ll continue to be inspired & educated too!<\/span><\/p>\n

Fun Fact #3:<\/strong> There is a 99% chance a Kenyan bus driver will attempt at least one scary overtaking manoeuvre every day.<\/p>\n
