{"id":243,"date":"2014-10-25T05:23:02","date_gmt":"2014-10-25T05:23:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cwbblogs.com\/kenya2014\/?p=243"},"modified":"2014-10-29T11:23:40","modified_gmt":"2014-10-29T11:23:40","slug":"day-five-simon-says-cwb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cwbblogs.com\/kenya2014\/2014\/10\/25\/day-five-simon-says-cwb\/","title":{"rendered":"Day five: Simon Says CWB!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Day five came and went in a tidal wave of smiling faces, spectacular cricket skills and fierce competition.<\/p>\n<p>At Ndeera School \u2013 our first stop of the day \u2013 a manageable 130 children came out to kick the session off but this soon doubled in size as the younger children were unleashed on their morning break.<a href=\"http:\/\/cwbblogs.com\/kenya2014\/files\/2014\/10\/DSC02064.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-255\" src=\"http:\/\/cwbblogs.com\/kenya2014\/files\/2014\/10\/DSC02064-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"DSC02064\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cwbblogs.com\/kenya2014\/files\/2014\/10\/DSC02064-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cwbblogs.com\/kenya2014\/files\/2014\/10\/DSC02064.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Within seconds they had swarmed all over the perfectly laid out batting station, gleefully grabbing bats and balls and turning cones into headwear and causing complete and utter carnage!<\/p>\n<p>There was only one thing to do \u2013 enter Luke, G Mac, and local coach Naomi and an impromptu blast of \u2018Chanting Without Boundaries\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Almost as quickly as they had wreaked havoc the children \u2013 aged between four and six \u2013 formed a giant circle and were hokey cokeying away like seasoned professionals. The stampede to the middle and the lung-bursting shouts of \u201cABC CWB\u201d were particularly well-received.<\/p>\n<p>A giant game of \u2018Simon Says\u2019 only ended when Simon (aka G Mac) was no longer able to say anything above a whisper due to his battered vocal chords but it was enough to fill break time and ensure the children had a fun experience they won\u2019t forget.<\/p>\n<p>During the day CWB Ambassador Nicholas and local coach Matteus spent time coaching the school teams at Ndeera and Makuyu College in readiness for our tournament on Saturday. Glenn cemented his reputation as Kenya\u2019s king of slapstick comedy and we managed to find some \u2018miracle\u2019 painkillers to help Anouck regain the power of walking.<\/p>\n<p>Tracey honed her children-charming skills by helping entertain around 20 three-year-olds for the best part of an hour and Robbie \u2018Bieber\u2019 VDH began to show the kind of singing and dancing skills that can only further his comparison to the bequiffed one.<a href=\"http:\/\/cwbblogs.com\/kenya2014\/files\/2014\/10\/DSC02103.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-258\" src=\"http:\/\/cwbblogs.com\/kenya2014\/files\/2014\/10\/DSC02103-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"DSC02103\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And despite being the \u2018elder statesmen\u2019 of the group Steve and Julian continue to put everyone else to shame with their energy and enthusiasm.<\/p>\n<p>The day finished were some hard-fought games of rapid-fire at Royal Stars Academy which brought the total of children coached to more than 700.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Day five came and went in a tidal wave of smiling faces, spectacular cricket skills and fierce competition.
