There are just over 24 hours until we begin our CWB adventure and personally I can’t wait. The training weekend proved that we have the best team and let’s not forget that this was achieved without our star international signing.

I’m confident that the group will be fun, inspiring and make the all important difference that CWB promotes.  Since insight is my day job I thought I’d provide you with some insights into my IPL style set of volunteers.

Luke Sellers – The tutor with quick wit and dry humour.

Reminds me of Scott Chappell of Kenya 2011 fame. Luke walked/jogged/fell in streams for 50 miles to fundraise for CWB and will bring a strong coaching background to the team. As a journalist he will contribute to blogging so expect some sensationalist stories.

Jeremy Knott – The older and experienced head.

As a two time previous volunteer Jeremy will bring invaluable experience and I am pleased to note he has recovered from a back injury for the trip. He can do a brilliant impression of me which I’m sure will be a great source of entertainment for others. Team welfare by default so I’ll keep a close eye on him.

Sarah Hickman – Baby of the group.

Sarah will bring bundles of youthful enthusiasm to our team. Kenya will be a great experience for her although she may miss out on her Gossip Girl (TV show I’m told) Sarah is in charge of monitoring and will no doubt keep me right.

Holly Colvin – Icon signing for Team Kenya.

Will be the face of the team and will no doubt be our resident celeb. She will be bringing 5 bags of England kit to give away and will be invaluable in terms of playing and coaching experience. Marks off for missing the training weekend to play international cricket, CWB country rivalries are far more important. Holly will be blogging for the team. Follow @hollycolvin10

James Harrison – Quiet man of the group. Got his chest waxed to raise funds for CWB as apparently he was known as Wolfie at Uni. As a recent graduate this trip should prove rewarding and help him stand out from the crowd in future life. Has spent a winter in an cricket academy in Oz before and played a good standard. Pulled the short straw of Umpiring duties. The only law he needs to remember is that I am never out.

I’d also like to cautiously welcome Lee Booth and Ed Williams on board. Lee will be joining us from Rwanda for the duration of the trip. I fear he may hold a grudge from Team Kenya being better than his country at the training weekend. Hopefully he realises he is now in a better place. Ed will join us for the second week of the trip in the Maasai Mara. Ed is a Trustee of CWB so will be important when dealing with the press and film crews that await us.

Having been to Kenya before I’m particularly looking forward to seeing David, George and Joseph in Nakuru. I am also excited to meet new people such as Aliya who does such fantastic work with the Maasai Cricket Warriors. Having spoken to Stephen Green on the Oslo trip he raved about the Warriors but was less enthusiastic about the transport issues from his visit in 2010. Lets hope our prearranged land cruisers are the solution.
