I play cricket for Catford Wanderers and Indoor Action Cricket for the London team. I’m a UKCC2 coach although the majority of the coaching I’ve done in the past four years has been in fields in Africa rather than the UK. I’m a keen amateur photographer and I will probably take several thousand photos while we are in Cameroon (you are all warned!). You’ll find me posting photos on @lauradan (twitter) as well as through this blog. For a living I run Calypso Cricket supplying coaching equipment to cricket clubs and schools across the country. I’m a keen Cricketer, I play regularly for my club side and spent a year playing in Australia. Coaching has been a living for 4 years now. I’m an English and Australian qualified level 2 coach and have a couple of other badges in other sports too.
My hobbies outside of Cricket are football, house music, travel and fitness.

Chandra

I am Chandra, originally from India, but have been living in the UK for the last 20 yrs. I am mad about cricket, maybe every single Indian is. I have never been coached, I’m a self taught and street cricketer from Bengal. Cricket came to me very naturally. I played a good standard of cricket in Kolkata for two years, then because of my education I had go back to my village and I stopped playing cricket. I now coach cricket, thanks to Gloucestershire county and a few Indian BCCI coaches in Kolkata who gave me the opportunity to observe training sessions, I was able to enhance my technical knowledge. I have volunteered at cricket events over the last 4 years; ICC Champions Trophy, Natwest T20 at Gloucestershire and Cardiff. This is my first trip with CWB to Cameroon. I’ve worked for GSK contract in Gloucester for the last 18 years as a system controller.

Ben

I’ve helped CWB with fundraising since 2015 but this is my first project visit. I work for the charity Age UK, and have played cricket for years so really wanted to tie this up with some charitable work. I’ve a Masters degree partly in African studies so am looking forward to visiting Africa for the first time and learning more about Cameroon. I’ll be blogging and tweeting on the trip (@benrymer) and am really looking forward to visiting Yaounde and Buea and generally supporting the great work that CWB do.

Kirsty

Although I’ve never played Cricket (until a couple of weeks ago at our CWB training weekend!) my work and personal life largely revolves around being active or promoting activity to others. I’ve worked in the sport/physical activity sector since leaving University in 2003 and work and projects that are about making a difference really appeal to me and is why the work of CWB caught my attention. I’ve played netball for over 20 years, currently playing for Abbey in the South Region league and hope my throwing and catching skills will come in handy in Cameroon!
