In the early hours of Saturday morning an emotional goodbye took place at The Stay Easy Inn in Gaborone. Tom and Meng said goodbye to the remaining 7 CWB volunteers as they boarded the bus to Francistown in the able hands of our new driver KB.
The team faced a gruelling drive of 6-7 hours across Botswana assisted by Carls hits form the 80s and Simon’s conspiracy theories of the 21st century.
The team will meet up with local Botswana coach Clem then make their way to the Woodlands Lodge. With Tim ‘magic’ Ward now in charge of provisions for week 2 it will be Fray Bentos pies and Jonny Walker all round, if he can get the whip off team accountant Ken. The team will spend week 2 in Francis town training teachers and visiting school spreading the CWB joy and message of HIV and Aids awareness. The team will also be meeting up with a local HIV organisation Top Bannana as well as visiting a school for the Deaf.
Final blog entry from Tom here as I will be departing tomorrow AM back to England and have to say I’m truly gutted to be leaving 8 inspirational and new friends behind. It has been a pleasure to go on my first CWB trip with such a great team and I’m now motivated to go back to the UK and work up our plans for the upcoming trip in October 2014 and Spring 2015.
Best wishes in week 2 guys and beware the black Mamba………
Week one over already, leaving behind nothing but true joy & happiness, and a
deeper awareness of HIV/Aids. Safe travelling and keep up the good work,
Graet to hear you trip is going well. Has "DJ Carl" wheeled out "Crazy Nights" yet…
I most certainly have… Leaving the Gospel version for later in the week though!
Good to hear it's been played, will you be going for solo gospel version or whole group?
Also don't suppose you'll be playing "Go wild in the country by Bow Wow Wow" due to your ongoing fear of snakes!!
