April 12th has finally arrived and you can see from the pic above I am ready to depart and meet the other volunteers at Heathrow.
In addition to the huge bag of kit I have have included some kit in my luggage from the two best teams I've played for, a Jumper from Cirencester cricket Club and the much adored cream and maroon hat from the Sarcen Riffs.
Whilst all the team will blog and share their adventure I thought it would be interesting to follow the trip from another point of view: the humble tennis ball. The tennis ball is the single piece of kit that we couldn't do without, the kids love them. All the bats, cones and stumps in the world would be useless without a ball.
So I have selected three lucky balls who's journey I will track over the next week.
The ball on the left will be known as Chris, the orange ball in the middle Mike and the ball on the right Tim. It's fair to say none of you will be coming home, maybe one will get pinched, hit on a roof, lost in long grass or donated to the bowler of the day. I will attempt to collect the balls back in at the end of each day, there is no guarantee you will make it.
Time to get on the tube to Heathrow, more blogs and tennis ball adventures to follow. Tom
My money is on Mike. Safe travels team Bots, looking forward to the blogs x
Go the lil guy on the right with the mighty bit grin – Go Tim! And take care Tom!
Glad to hear the team arrived safely. All seem to have thrown themselves into the fray
with gusto. Sorry to hear Tim Mike and Chris have gone awol already, they're bound to turn up
if they follow their namesakes! Keep up the good work and everyone take care.
